It’s Alessandra Carboni from Italy.
In 1986 I was 15, I liked British pop-rock music very much.
In my Summer holidays, when school was over, I used to watch music videos on tv and one day I was struck by the one for DO YA DO YA (wanna please me) more than by the one for TOUCH ME (I want your body). I liked it ’cause it sounded more like rock music and Sam was really sexy in it.
On that day I started buying every record by Sam: singles, albums, picture discs, limited editions; I bought posters, books, calendars, various gadgets and all the magazines that printed something on her (see pics n.01, 02, 03). I joined her British fan club and I used to write letters to her. I drempt of going to London and being able to meet her, to go to one of her concerts, but I was still a little girl and my parents wouldn’t allow me to go to England or anywhere else to see her. I watched every performance she did on Italian and British tv and I recorded everything on vhs tapes.
My former boy friend in the ’80s was jealous of her because every time I saw her or listened to her music I would call her ” MY LOVE…!!!” As years passed I kept following her through magazines and in Internet and I kept buying all her records still dreaming of meeting her.
On 2011, last year, I met the great Debby on facebook and thank her my dream’s finally come true after 25 years waiting!!! Sam was in Rome last September for a concert at the Gay Village. I got to Cagliari Airport from my town to catch the flight to Rome but because of a misunderstanding I lost it. Since I really couldn’t miss this big chance I bought some other tickets. Being unemploied it was a lot to me but I didn’t care spending more money, my joy thinking about my dream almost coming true, was huge.
When I arrived at the Gay Village I was so excited! I managed to be on the first row, close to the stage, with Debby and all our friends, I even fought with a photoreporter who was trying to steel my place! I wasn’t going to move from there it was such a fabulous moment for me. Myra greeted us before the show, she was really nice.
When Sam got on stage my joy exploded! She was so beautiful, my emotion seeing her was beyond description. I was there, so close to my idol, and when Sam bent toward me to shake my hand, oh my God it was great! I danced and sang through the whole concert, I took tons of pictures, I also managed to touch Sam’s left leg and shake her hand again.
And that was not all! Debby made me meet her personally and I’ll be grateful to her for all my life! After the show, Debby, a few friends and I went to Sam’s dressing room and spent quite an hour with Sam and Myra. I talked to Sam, I hugged her and didn’t know whether I was still dreaming or was it real life…
Sam is a wonderful person, she’s very sweet and nice besides beeing an extraordinary good artist.
I love Sam, she’s the one and only, I’ll always be her fan.
